Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) After 5 played minutes Oldham Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Anxo Cecilia. 6 minutes into the match, Oldham Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Guo Han Di reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 8 minutes into the match, Felix Montenegro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Guo Han Di. Oldham Athletic's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felix Montenegro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guo Han Di having to interfere. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guo Han Di having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian-Federico Dolić in the 14th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Zhao Yao Ying sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian-Federico Dolić in the 16th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian-Federico Dolić came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Oldham Athletic's Julio Vera threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Cristian-Federico Dolić, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zhao Yao Ying in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After 23 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Filippo Bobbio who took care of the corner kick. A well-hit corner resulted in Muhammed-Emir Benice heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 26th minute of play forced Oldham Athletic's goalkeeper Guo Han Di to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guo Han Di having to make a save. Oldham Athletic's Guo Han Di played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luis Andino in the 30th minute of play. After having played for 31 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 33 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Guo Han Di was left in no man's land by his defense there! Braulio Hodei struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oldham Athletic. Anxo Cecilia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Zhao Yao Ying could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. In the 41st minute of the match, Zhao Yao Ying got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Filippo Bobbio was slow to take the kick. During this time Oldham Athletic's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Braulio Hodei heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 47th minute, Luis Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zhao Yao Ying received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Zhao Yao Ying slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 48th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Daniel Zorita to strike the kick off in the second half. Zhao Yao Ying received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guo Han Di made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 55th minute. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Oldham Athletic made a substitution. Gösta Brolin replaced Muhammed-Emir Benice. Oldham Athletic's Sune Axelsson was substituted for Cristian-Federico Dolić. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guo Han Di. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guo Han Di read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Daniel Zorita succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-3 in the 75th playminute. 77 minutes into the match, Oldham Athletic's goalkeeper Guo Han Di had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. Guo Han Di was a little too slow when Felix Montenegro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 2-4. After 81 played minutes Oldham Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Valter Abrahamsson. Oldham Athletic's Guo Han Di proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Oldham Athletic from getting a goal against them. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zhao Yao Ying in the 86th minute of play. In the 91st minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Guo Han Di was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Daniel Zorita who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 93rdth minute tested the skills of Guo Han Di when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When the match clock showed 95 minutes, the score became 3-4 when Zhao Yao Ying sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
