Angelo Ugutz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 10 minutes into the match, Países Bajos's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Angelo Ugutz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Países Bajos's Angelo Ugutz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 12th minute of play. A collision led to Países Bajos getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Dalmacio Tebaldo hit a great ball. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 14th minute, when Timos Kavourakis scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 2-0. In the 18th minute Timos Kavourakis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Ugutz having to interfere. Angelo Ugutz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Timos Kavourakis in the 31st minute of the match. In the 32nd minute Países Bajos were awarded a corner. Dalmacio Tebaldo went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 36th minute Camilo Artaldo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Angelo Ugutz having to interfere. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 44 minutes into the match, Timos Kavourakis had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Timos Kavourakis was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. After having played for 48 minutes, Dalmacio Tebaldo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Países Bajos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dalmacio Tebaldo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

In the 54th match minute, Países Bajos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Orlando Peixoto to maneuver through the defense. 57 minutes into the match, Países Bajos's goalkeeper Angelo Ugutz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Angelo Ugutz to make any attempt to save it. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Daniel Zorita took a quick shot and it went in 3-2 without a chance for Angelo Ugutz to make any attempt to save it. In the 67th minute, Daniel Zorita fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Países Bajos made a substitution. Alvaro Ebardo replaced Camilo Artaldo. With a little luck, Países Bajos's Angelo Ugutz got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. 78 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Alvaro Ebardo came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Timos Kavourakis in the 83rd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Orlando Peixoto, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The corner led Países Bajos's Alvaro Ebardo to a score. 4-2 in the 95th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Países Bajos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
