Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Daniel Zorita got the match started through his kick off. In the 3rd minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Aurelio Rexino. Seagulls's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 6 minutes into the match, Seagulls's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Aurelio Rexino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Seagulls's Aurelio Rexino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 11th minute of play. In the 12th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Seagulls's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. 18 minutes into the match, Seagulls's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Aurelio Rexino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aurelio Rexino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Seagulls's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aurelio Rexino came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aurelio Rexino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aurelio Rexino read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 32nd minute of the match, Michel Cremers got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 36th minute Nildo Matos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aurelio Rexino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marco Mook in the 42nd minute of play. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 45 minutes, Agustín Saelices mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Seagulls players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nildo Matos to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Seagulls's Nildo Matos got a free kick in the 50th minute. Seagulls's Aurelio Rexino proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 51st minute of the match, managed to save Seagulls from getting a goal against them. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aurelio Rexino made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. When Agustín Saelices came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agustín Saelices couldn't finish the play. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Michel Cremers came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Seagulls defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aurelio Rexino. The Seagulls fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aurelio Rexino should have stopped the shot. After 79 minutes of play, Seagulls's Nildo Matos made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Nildo Matos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Aurelio Rexino made a huge save. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Ben Rensenbrink stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Ben Rensenbrink tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match was over Ecuador could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Seagulls throughout the match.
