A hard shot 10 in the game by Nildo Matos from a close distance when the talented Jonathan Ferrant managed to make a qualified save. Venezuela's players were relieved. Milosz Zgonina struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Seagulls. In the 14th match minute, Seagulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Severin Kotrulev to maneuver through the defense. After 17 minutes of play, Seagulls's Michel Cremers made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! Aurelio Rexino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 21st minute of play. After 24 played minutes Seagulls got a freekick which was hit by Ben Rensenbrink. Aurelio Rexino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Illescas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Nildo Matos sent off a good shot on target. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 34th minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 47 played minutes Seagulls got a freekick which was hit by Severin Kotrulev.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nildo Matos to make the kick off. Jonathan Venegas kicked well hit freekick during the 51st minute of the match. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
