Roman Iza took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 18 minutes into the match, Rio Gallegos Unidos's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Roman Iza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play forced Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roman Iza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rio Gallegos Unidos's goalkeeper Roman Iza, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Roman Iza made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 40 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Emilio Nuno came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 43 played minutes Rio Gallegos Unidos got a freekick which was hit by Emilio Nuno. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emilio Nuno was the one to do the kick off. Luis Andino struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Roman Iza didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Roman Iza came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Roman Iza made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 58th minute. Daniel Zorita's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Roman Iza firmly grabbed it by the left post. Roman Iza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luis Andino in the 63rd minute of the match. After having played for 64 minutes, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 68th minute, Cristian Sancho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Rio Gallegos Unidos's Roman Iza got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Silvestre Fernandes during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Rio Gallegos Unidos getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Silvestre Fernandes hit a great ball. Cristian Sancho who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Roman Iza when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Roman Iza tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rio Gallegos Unidos's Cesar Belo was substituted for Paulino Mancio. 83 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Roman Iza was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Roman Iza made a huge save. Oscar Iyan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roman Iza made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Rio Gallegos Unidos's Benito Txurio got a free kick in the 93rd minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Rio Gallegos Unidos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Benito Txurio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador played a much better game than Rio Gallegos Unidos and deserved their victory. The Rio Gallegos Unidos players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
