In the 13th minute Celedonio Abajas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Loi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chaves U21's Oscar Loi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximiliano Shepherd in the 15th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zé Paulo Hermes in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Oscar Loi saved Chaves U21 from getting behind. Celso Hartz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Medero Aballe in the 16th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Chaves U21's Medero Aballe slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Celso Hartz. That made the score 1-0 after 17 minutes of play. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Celso Hartz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Medero Aballe who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Celso Hartz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 25 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Medero Aballe was slow to take the kick. During this time Chaves U21's players had a chance to rest. With a little luck, FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá's Celso Hartz got control of the ball when Medero Aballe tried to sneak it across the goal line. Oscar Loi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomás Madaleno in the 30th minute of the match. The FC Yucatan Chichén Itzá fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Chaves U21's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Celedonio Abajas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-5.

Tomás Madaleno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Oscar Loi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
