The audience was convinced that Rodolfo Cordeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Jonathan Errapel made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Luis Andino sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 92nd minute, Cecilio Beltxe hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Ecuador players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Santa Maradona from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
