After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Gaona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dino Roberto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Villadeatese FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Arrigo Clementi hit a great ball. Alvaro Manzi's late challenge caught a Mexico's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alvaro Manzi helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Mexico booed when Villadeatese FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alvaro Manzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 47th minute, Arrigo Clementi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. Dino Roberto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Gaona, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 57 minutes, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joel Gaona was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arrigo Clementi in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dante Lacasa saved Mexico from getting behind. 75 minutes into the match, Ernesto Scevola had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ernesto Scevola was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Villadeatese FC's Dino Roberto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Villadeatese FC from getting a goal against them. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lorenzo Cazalla in the 81st minute of play forced Villadeatese FC's goalkeeper Dino Roberto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
