Rolando Noboa made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Thierry Henry sent off a good shot on target. The throw-in from Emmanuel Reyes in the 6th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by GuateFortín's Roberto Trotta. After 10 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nery Pumpido was left in no man's land by his defense there! GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 13th minute of play. Nery Pumpido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Julian Murillo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zico Zellier in the 21st minute of play. After 26 minutes of play, Peru's Julian Murillo made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nery Pumpido was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Murillo in the 41st minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Peru's Julian Murillo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nery Pumpido narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 44 minutes had been played when some careless play by GuateFortín's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. At last the ball reached Milagros Fraga at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of GuateFortín. 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Angel Alvarenga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 53 minutes into the match, Peru's Eliseo Mina sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nery Pumpido narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Roberto Trotta's late challenge caught a Peru's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roberto Trotta helped the player get up and apologised. Nery Pumpido didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Peru's Julian Murillo shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-4 in the ordered_time% minute. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thierry Henry, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Peru made a substitution. Eliseo Alcocer replaced Moises Gayoso. A well-hit corner resulted in Alonso Berganza heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. In the 88th match minute, GuateFortín was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Angel Alvarenga to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. GuateFortín's Thierry Henry got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in GuateFortín's zone, Rafael Gallo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nery Pumpido came out of the goal and Rafael Gallo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match was over Peru could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than GuateFortín throughout the match.
