The audience was convinced that Nataniel Senderos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leandro Lizar was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. Leandro Lizar was a little too slow when Endira Freire got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 2-0. If Darien Gaitan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 25th minute, Nataniel Senderos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Nataniel Senderos managed to get in a good position for a shot. PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's supporters rose to their feet, but Nataniel Senderos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leandro Lizar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Atletico ALMA's Leandro Lizar got control of the ball when Endira Freire tried to sneak it across the goal line. Leandro Lizar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nataniel Senderos in the 31st minute of play. After 33 played minutes Atletico ALMA got a freekick which was hit by Aurelio Barea. José Perdomo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leandro Lizar having to interfere. Leandro Lizar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Endira Freire's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. In the 40th match minute, Atletico ALMA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jairo Sugar to maneuver through the defense. Leandro Lizar made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Endira Freire sent off a good shot on target. Atletico ALMA's Leandro Lizar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Atletico ALMA from getting a goal against them. After 47 minutes, Felipe Baumer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atletico ALMA and the PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON players grew even worse after the yellow card. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Endira Freire to make the kick off. Felipe Baumer hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Darien Gaitan made a great header on PEÑAROL ORO Y CARBON's corner, it was just that Atletico ALMA's Leandro Lizar managed to reach the ball for a save. Nicasio Vincent charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nicasio Vincent the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the Atletico ALMA defense, Endira Freire kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leandro Lizar. The Atletico ALMA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leandro Lizar should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darien Gaitan in the 86th minute of play forced Atletico ALMA's goalkeeper Leandro Lizar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute, Nataniel Senderos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Leandro Lizar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nataniel Senderos in the 92nd minute of play. If Darien Gaitan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute.
