VfL Wolfsburg's attentive Claes Fredriksson managed to snatch the ball when Carlos Costa made a throw-in in the 5th minute of the game. Rui de Mendonça took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfons Delin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olle Tunander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 秦鸿云 in the 12th minute of play. Jerry Fristedt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rui de Mendonça read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Rui de Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfons Delin in the 29th minute of the match. After 29 played minutes Encanto got a freekick which was hit by Rogério Ramalho. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Encanto's goalkeeper Rui de Mendonça, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Alfons Delin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rui de Mendonça showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jerry Fristedt, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. VfL Wolfsburg were awarded a corner in the 37th minute after Encanto's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jerry Fristedt took the corner. Olle Tunander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eckhardt Brøbech, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. In the 74th minute, Alfons Delin made a precise shot to the right of Rui de Mendonça. Encanto's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-5. After some fancy dribbling in the 78th minute, Alfons Delin managed to get in a good position for a shot. VfL Wolfsburg's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfons Delin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rui de Mendonça breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 79 played minutes VfL Wolfsburg got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Valderrama. Jerry Fristedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui de Mendonça having to interfere. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. VfL Wolfsburg walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
