Frits Andriessen went to the cornerflag to take it. Stardust Unicorns XI's Frits Andriessen was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Olle Tunander in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The corner led VfL Wolfsburg's Jerry Fristedt to fire away a dangerous shot which Ulf Skoog despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. VfL Wolfsburg's Alfons Delin got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in VfL Wolfsburg's zone, Attila Kádár stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olle Tunander came out of the goal and Attila Kádár tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With an all-out effort, VfL Wolfsburg's Ulf Skoog threw himself towards the right post 32 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Marciano Egun, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Ulf Skoog made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Jerry Fristedt sent off a good shot on target. Claes Fredriksson was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Attila Kádár scored 0-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Olle Tunander, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The VfL Wolfsburg players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Stardust Unicorns XI were winning 0-1.

The wind increased when Jerry Fristedt made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Jerry Fristedt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulf Skoog saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Stardust Unicorns XI would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
