Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Carlos Alberto Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Nacional's zone, Francisco Seco stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teodoro Peio came out of the goal and Francisco Seco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Francisco Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Carlos Alberto Azevedo's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. After 78 played minutes Uruguay got a freekick which was hit by Maximiliano Escribano. Baldomero Rodas didn't quite understand what happened when in the 81 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. A collision led to Atlético Nacional getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Vicente Sasoin hit a great ball. After 89 minutes of play, Uruguay's Francisco Seco made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Teodoro Peio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Teodoro Peio made a huge save.
