After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Kevin Keegan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Skövde AIK's supporters rose to their feet, but Kevin Keegan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathan Ferrant breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great ball. Chen Ao Fan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 15 minutes into the match, Skövde AIK's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Ronnie Hellström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute, Tomas Illescas left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Chen Ao Fan succeeded in the game's 18th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 2-1. 22 minutes into the game, Skövde AIK's Chen Ao Fan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 26th minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Skövde AIK's Ronnie Hellström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 29th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hjalmar Hägert in the 41st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Kurt Hamrin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

After 64th play minutes Chen Ao Fan shot 4-1, a short shot which went by Jonathan Ferrant and just under the crossbar into goal. Skövde AIK made a substitution. Jerry Williams replaced Kurt Hamrin. Venezuela's attentive Salvador Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Georg Norström made a throw-in in the 68th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 73rd minute of play forced Skövde AIK's goalkeeper Ronnie Hellström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tomas Illescas in the 74thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ronnie Hellström, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Chen Ao Fan went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-1 was the resulting score. Filip Brolin made a great header on Skövde AIK's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Skövde AIK fully deserved thier win.
