Tomas Illescas scored 0-1 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilfredo Heli, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 16th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patricio Costa to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Yuan Jian Hai tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Liu Cheng Kang, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yuan Jian Hai in the 35th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Real Unión CF booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guillermo Mariano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cebo Segura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 78th minute Yuan Jian Hai shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Real Unión CF's Liu Cheng Kang got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Real Unión CF's Yanne Callaerts was substituted for Yuan Jian Hai. In the 84th minute, Yanne Callaerts hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Liu Cheng Kang's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Liu Cheng Kang in the 93rd minute of the match. Yanne Callaerts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Venezuela players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Real Unión CF.
