Eduardo Fontirroig fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sven-Åke Wallander having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Alfredo Ferrant had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sven-Åke Wallander. Ödsmål's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfredo Ferrant was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. 17 minutes into the match, Ödsmål's goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Fontirroig came free, but Sven-Åke Wallander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sven-Åke Wallander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduardo Fontirroig, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Ödsmål's Staffan Jansson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Camilo Freixa. That made the score 1-1 after 20 minutes of play. With a little luck, Bolivia's Camilo Freixa got control of the ball when Staffan Jansson tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 30th match minute, Ödsmål was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nils Ekström to maneuver through the defense. If Alfredo Ferrant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Bolivia booed when Ödsmål was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Staffan Jansson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 44th minute, Alfonso de la Cruz left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bolivia fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a rather tough play, Ödsmål's Karl Bergman got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Bolivia's Camilo Freixa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nils Ekström in the 57th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Staffan Jansson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ödsmål fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Camilo Freixa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kjell Frykberg in the 66th minute of play. After 67 minutes Bolivia's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Kjell Frykberg who took care of the corner kick. Jan-Olof Backlund made in the 75th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Tord Sjöberg however managed to control. 78 minutes into the game, Alfonso de la Cruz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bolivia's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ödsmål the free kick. In the 78th minute, Alfonso de la Cruz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 3-2 when Staffan Jansson sped through Bolivia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Camilo Freixa.
