Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. In the 24th minute, Lautaro Puig left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Costa Rica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Costa Rica's zone, Sertel Yamanöz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benito Sanz came out of the goal and Sertel Yamanöz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 38th minute, Bedrettin Karadağ got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Axel Tasis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Tasis stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bedrettin Karadağ received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sertel Yamanöz was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Juan Rubio got a free kick in the 89th minute. ArtvinHodspor's Mehmet Arif Sarper got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mehmet Arif Sarper fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Abel Carballo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
