After 11 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Danilo Dionísio who took care of the corner kick. 13 minutes into the match, Xapetuba Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Luis Andino came free, but Tiaguinho da Cunha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Jacinto Paraíba tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 32nd minute. In the 33rd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Arias to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jacinto Paraíba got free with Julio Vera in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tiaguinho da Cunha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Xapetuba Futebol Clube's Tiaguinho da Cunha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 47th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Jacinto Paraíba made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Marcelo Coutinho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tiaguinho da Cunha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 53rd minute. In the 56th minute Jacinto Paraíba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 61 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Xapetuba Futebol Clube's Patrick Neiva was substituted for Jacinto Paraíba. After some careless play in the Xapetuba Futebol Clube defense, Daniel Zorita kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tiaguinho da Cunha. The Xapetuba Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tiaguinho da Cunha should have stopped the shot. Luis Andino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tiaguinho da Cunha having to make a save. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Neiva, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. In the 85th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 85th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gisbert to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrick Neiva, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
