When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Felix Montenegro put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Mané Netto. Mané Netto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of the match. 20 de Abril's Mané Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 12th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sílvio Luís da Mata could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. 20 de Abril's Mané Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 19th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mané Netto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sílvio Luís da Mata could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Valdo Toscano sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Valdo Toscano in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind 20 de Abril's goalkeeper Mané Netto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Valdo Toscano to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdo Toscano in the 52nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute Robinho Freire shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Antonio Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Álvaro de Mendonça in the 73rd minute of play. In the 76th match minute, 20 de Abril was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Álvaro de Mendonça to maneuver through the defense. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robinho Freire, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Váldson Barral in the 84th minute of play. With 90 minutes on the clock, Álvaro de Mendonça commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in 20 de Abril fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 89th minute. Penalty! Ecuador played a much better game than 20 de Abril and deserved their victory. The 20 de Abril players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
