Buford Lim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Heigo Luiga in the 21st minute. Luca Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Buford Lim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Buford Lim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Lautaro Mancebo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Buford Lim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The C.A.Independiente players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tom Misaki made a kick off. Jaroslaw Psikuta hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. After 53 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Macos Graciani. 55 minutes into the match, C.A.Independiente's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Buford Lim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After taking down the ball on Mexico's corner Facundo Cadaval fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Buford Lim quite easily take care of the ball. Lautaro Mancebo came free with the goalkeeper in the 58th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Buford Lim could save by the left post. In the 60th match minute, C.A.Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardino Gonsalve to maneuver through the defense. Buford Lim made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Joel Gaona sent off a good shot on target. 65 minutes into the match, Heigo Luiga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Heigo Luiga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Dante Lacasa came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by C.A.Independiente's Tom Misaki. But to his dismay, Tom Misaki quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. In the 76th match minute, C.A.Independiente was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lisandro Mederi to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute of the match, Lautaro Mancebo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Buford Lim was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Buford Lim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 80th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 82nd minute of play forced C.A.Independiente's goalkeeper Buford Lim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alberto Tafalla took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Buford Lim. Buford Lim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. The supporters of C.A.Independiente booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lorenzo Cazalla didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Mexico players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
