The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Francisco Seco to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Rosario Central's Leopoldo Baraquiel got a free kick in the 52nd minute. If Francisco Seco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevin Carballal to maneuver through the defense. Maximiliano Escribano was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 62nd minute. Uruguay's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Francisco Seco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Julio Garay when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Joaquin Gayoso stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leopoldo Baraquiel's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Leopoldo Baraquiel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Baraquiel in the 68th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Rosario Central fans cheered their team off the field, for while Uruguay had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
