The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a defensive mix-up in Colombia's zone, Bernard Perathoner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pedro Manzanares came out of the goal and Bernard Perathoner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rodolfo Faria in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Pedro Manzanares, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 23rd match minute, Colombia was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santino Seco to maneuver through the defense. 24 minutes into the match, Gonzalo Lixandro notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Colombia's Pedro Manzanares. Pedro Manzanares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rodolfo Faria got free with Pedro Manzanares in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. defense, Axel Montenegro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Qiu Chuan Ran. The Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Qiu Chuan Ran should have stopped the shot. Qiu Chuan Ran showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kevin Mastache in the 57th minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Colombia's Axel Montenegro dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. If Rodolfo Faria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Faria in the 66th minute of play. Pedro Manzanares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gonzalo Lixandro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gonzalo Lixandro in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pedro Manzanares saved Colombia from getting behind. Gonzalo Lixandro scored 2-2 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pedro Manzanares, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Colombia's Pedro Manzanares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Faria in the 79th minute of play. After 79 minutes of play, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Rodolfo Faria made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pedro Manzanares was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 86th minute of the match Rodolfo Faria shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Pedro Manzanares showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 89th minute, Raimundo Ventura left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Qiu Chuan Ran showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Mastache, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, Rodolfo Faria managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Rodolfo Faria was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pedro Manzanares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Qiu Chuan Ran proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. from getting a goal against them. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fully deserved thier win.
