Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 9th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Joey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Santiago Mino's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 11thth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. In the 16th minute Felix Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Joey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santiago Mino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 21stth minute of the game Santiago Mino who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Santiago Mino tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alfredo Joey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Palermo's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Juan Sebastián Puig received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Alfredo Joey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Santiago Mino who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 34 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Alfredo Joey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arnoldo Medina in the 38th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Santiago Mino came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Palermo's Alfredo Joey played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 41st minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnoldo Medina, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Felix Montenegro hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Santiago Mino made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Santiago Mino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Juan Sebastián Puig kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago Mino, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. In the 66th minute, Santiago Mino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. The audience was convinced that Santiago Mino's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Saul Felo was slow to take the kick. During this time Palermo's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Saul Felo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Antonio Arias during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Saul Felo came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Palermo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Saul Felo couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago Mino, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After 82 minutes, Arnoldo Medina mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palermo and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. Palermo made a substitution. Patryk Wiater replaced Marcelino Chaime. In the 83rd match minute, Palermo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnoldo Medina to maneuver through the defense. The Palermo fans' excitement grew in the 87th match minute when Palermo's Patryk Wiater looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Palermo made a substitution. Anacleto Itzaina replaced William Bengtsson. Alfredo Joey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 92nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Sancho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alfredo Joey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Sven-Arne Olsson fell near the penalty area in the 95th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palermo's protests and gave Sven-Arne Olsson a yellow card for diving instead. After 95 played minutes Palermo got a freekick which was hit by Sven-Arne Olsson. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Palermo fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
