In the 6th minute Tomas Berganza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanford Peters saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bombai Bombis in the 8th minute of play forced Panama's goalkeeper Marcos Cotilla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kentucky Mustangs's Stanford Peters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 11th minute of play. Stanford Peters made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Berganza in the 13th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bombai Bombis during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Kentucky Mustangs getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Bombai Bombis hit a great ball. When Jack Agnes fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kentucky Mustangs's protests and gave Jack Agnes a yellow card for diving instead. After 18 played minutes Kentucky Mustangs got a freekick which was hit by Jack Agnes. Kentucky Mustangs's Stanford Peters played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Berganza in the 23rd minute of play. Tomas Berganza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Panama's Matthew Garrido got a free kick in the 26th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Matthew Garrido during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Matthew Garrido kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. In the 35th minute Panama were awarded a corner. Abraham Alguacil went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Panama's corner Abraham Alguacil fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Stanford Peters quite easily take care of the ball. Stanford Peters took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abraham Alguacil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marco van Zijderveld charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Marco van Zijderveld the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jack Agnes to make the kick off. The tension between the Kentucky Mustangs and the Panama players grew even worse after the yellow card.
