Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. Gláuber Camargo hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Arturo Bondi struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Doni Batista's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Doni Batista helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Fazendinha getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Doni Batista hit a great ball. After 44 minutes, Gláuber Camargo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fazendinha and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Fazendinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gláuber Camargo didn't get a good kick on the ball.
