Richard Fontes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Richard Fontes didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-1 in the ordered_time% minute. Mehmet Oğuz Uram replaced Xu Sha Quan. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. Richard Fontes came out of the goal and Cristian Sancho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Zé Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richard Fontes was out of position in the 96 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Cristian Sancho really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
