Nemesio Tabb could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Valery Gurinovich made a huge save. 7 minutes into the game, one of INDEPENDIENTE F.C.:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The referee gave FORTALEZA a penalty, 9 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Oliver Kán, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s Jeronimo Abella. 0-1. In the 12th match minute, FORTALEZA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juljan Shabanov to maneuver through the defense. Nester Kopylov charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nester Kopylov the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 14 played minutes FORTALEZA got a freekick which was hit by Nester Kopylov. After a rather tough play, FORTALEZA's Prohar Nizavets got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 17th match minute, INDEPENDIENTE F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dionisio Nesor to maneuver through the defense. If Vladimir Isakov had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeronimo Abella didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Juljan Shabanov went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 28th minute, Oleg Razmyslovich hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juljan Shabanov sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Nemesio Tabb put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Valery Gurinovich. 44 minutes into the match, INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Vladimir Isakov came free, but Jeronimo Abella reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of FORTALEZA booed when INDEPENDIENTE F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Erramu didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

In the 60th minute, Marcelino Mano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Kán in the 61st minute of play forced INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s goalkeeper Jeronimo Abella to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Valery Gurinovich showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nemesio Tabb in the 69th minute of the match. If Nemesio Tabb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hernan Min received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Valery Gurinovich tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 74 minutes into the game, Nemesio Tabb was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FORTALEZA the free kick. A collision led to INDEPENDIENTE F.C. getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Valery Gurinovich didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lisandro Gergori went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-2 was the resulting score. Nemesio Tabb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valery Gurinovich having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Hernan Min managed to get in a good position for a shot. INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Hernan Min was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Valery Gurinovich breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Nemesio Tabb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 93 minutes into the match, Hernan Min had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Valery Gurinovich. FORTALEZA's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Hernan Min was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The INDEPENDIENTE F.C. fans cheered their team off the field, for while FORTALEZA had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
