The supporters of Ecuador booed when Los Galacticos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lu Hong didn't get a good kick on the ball. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by Los Galacticos's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner led Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig to fire away a dangerous shot which Zhu Xi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gilesindo Tarapiella had several of the Ecuador's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 29 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-2 score and a disappointed Julio Vera as he didn't even see the shot coming. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kong Jing Kun's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Zhu Xi didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 39th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. In the 42nd match minute, Los Galacticos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kong Jing Kun to maneuver through the defense. In the 46th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristian Sancho to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Los Galacticos's Ruben Le was substituted for Xie Yue Chao. Los Galacticos's 孟战洋 was substituted for Lu Hong. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Agustín Saelices hit a great ball. In the 69th minute Gilesindo Tarapiella shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 72nd minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 77 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Zhu Xi in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Zhu Xi made a huge save. In the 88th minute, Daniel Zorita made a precise shot to the right of Zhu Xi. Los Galacticos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-5. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Los Galacticos fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
