In the 15thth minute of the game Edmundo Espiga who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Harvey Smith was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 22nd minute, Damien Blake hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Harvey Smith made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

Edmundo Espiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Harvey Smith tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moises Tafalla blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Harvey Smith having to make a save. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ethan Stiles in the 57th minute of play. The FC Shakhtar Donetsk fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Ethan Stiles looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Toby Morgan fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Shakhtar Donetsk's protests and gave Toby Morgan a yellow card for diving instead. After 74 played minutes FC Shakhtar Donetsk got a freekick which was hit by Toby Morgan. Harvey Smith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moises Tafalla, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Honduras's Edmundo Espiga slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Harvey Smith. That made the score 3-2 after 78 minutes of play. The supporters of Honduras booed when FC Shakhtar Donetsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ethan Stiles didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in FC Shakhtar Donetsk's zone, Edmundo Espiga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Harvey Smith came out of the goal and Edmundo Espiga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 90 minutes into the match, Tony Froggatt notched a goal, 4-2, to the right of Honduras's Lautaro Navarro. Lautaro Navarro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. FC Shakhtar Donetsk were victorious despite being under pressure from Honduras for much of the match.
