Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off. The supporters of 9 de Diciembre booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Arias didn't get a good kick on the ball. Angel Osasun kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Felix Montenegro's late challenge caught a 9 de Diciembre's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Felix Montenegro helped the player get up and apologised. Felix Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. When Angel Osasun came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the 9 de Diciembre fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Angel Osasun couldn't finish the play. After 15 played minutes 9 de Diciembre got a freekick which was hit by Angel Osasun. In the 16th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeo Carrizo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeo Carrizo having to interfere. The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amadeo Carrizo having to interfere. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind 9 de Diciembre's goalkeeper Amadeo Carrizo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Amadeo Carrizo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 36th minute of play. The 9 de Diciembre players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomasz Huchro made a kick off. In the 51st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Amadeo Carrizo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 57 minutes into the match, 9 de Diciembre's Tomasz Huchro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 59 minutes 9 de Diciembre's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. When Ecuador's Cristian Sancho in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 96th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
