C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After having played for 21 minutes, Ryszard Iwanowski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SORRISO E. C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Ryszard Iwanowski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Caco Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 30 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.'s Murilo Prestes dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 43 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cléber da Costa. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luis Andino in the 46th minute of play forced SORRISO E. C.'s goalkeeper Caco Azevedo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Murilo Prestes was the one to do the kick off. Cristian Sancho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Caco Azevedo made a huge save. In the 68th minute, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Caco Azevedo. Caco Azevedo yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-1. A collision led to SORRISO E. C. getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Edmílson da Rocha hit a great ball. Caco Azevedo made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cléber da Costa succeeded in the game's 87th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 4-1. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edmílson da Rocha during the 89th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 90th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Caco Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Daniel Zorita fell near the penalty area in the 94th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Daniel Zorita a yellow card for diving instead. Daniel Zorita kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Ryszard Iwanowski blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. When the match clock showed 97 minutes, the score became 5-1 when Murilo Prestes sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but SORRISO E. C. were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
