In the 4th minute, Lorenzo Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lando Norin in the 5th minute. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Tato Vega tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sandro Tepedino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo in the 22nd minute of play. After 32 minutes Que se abra o mar's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joel Gaona who took care of the corner kick. Mexico's Joel Gaona was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Sandro Tepedino in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lando Norin in the 35th minute of play. Que se abra o mar's Sandro Tepedino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 38th minute of play. 43 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Albertinho Andrade. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Lando Norin took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Dante Lacasa to make any attempt to save it.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Sandro Tepedino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Silvinho da Silveira hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. 59 minutes into the match, Que se abra o mar's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Sandro Tepedino reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Sandro Tepedino made a huge save. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 82 minutes play. Macos Graciani hit a great ball. Sandro Tepedino was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Joel Gaona showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 85 minute of play. In the 88th minute, Mexico's Lautaro Mancebo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. Tommy Van Elsen might have been able to make a better finish in the 96th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dante Lacasa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tommy Van Elsen ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 97thth minute of the game Lando Norin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mexico's Dante Lacasa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Mexico supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
