The tension between the Uruguay and the Jagiellonia Denver players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 11th minute of the match Uruguay got a corner. Jagiellonia Denver's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jaime Cazalla ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 13th minute Michal Majdoch shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Eric Gary tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eric Gary took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maximiliano Escribano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 23rd match minute, Uruguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Franco to maneuver through the defense. Hélio Donatello's late challenge caught a Uruguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hélio Donatello helped the player get up and apologised. After 25 played minutes Jagiellonia Denver got a freekick which was hit by Hélio Donatello. If Hélio Donatello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eric Gary made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 46th minute of play. Eric Gary showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Seco, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute. In the 61st minute, Jaime Cazalla sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Jagiellonia Denver's Eric Gary didn't even have to move. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rudolf Garreau during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
