After 5 played minutes ATLETICO MENDOZA got a freekick which was hit by Ladislao Cresitobalo. Lautaro Navarro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximino Ruy in the 11th minute of the match. After 13 minutes, Jose Chale made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. With his leg Lautaro Navarro managed to avoid a goal in the 16thth minute, when ATLETICO MENDOZA's Jose Chale fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maximino Ruy in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lautaro Navarro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Maximino Ruy sped through Honduras's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lautaro Navarro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Gentza in the 21st minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jose Chale who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Lautaro Navarro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. ATLETICO MENDOZA's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by 庞思傲 in the 30th minute. Sebastian Villa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Václav Filipi having to interfere. Honduras's attentive Esteban Carvallo managed to snatch the ball when Arnaldo Musko made a throw-in in the 44th minute of the game. 46 minutes into the match, ATLETICO MENDOZA's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastian Villa came free, but Václav Filipi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.
The wind increased when Jose Chale made the kick off in the second half. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Honduras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maximino Ruy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. ATLETICO MENDOZA's Justo Muno was substituted for Jose Chale. Ivan Navarro lost his temper 66 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. ATLETICO MENDOZA's Juanito Azulay was substituted for Baldomiro Enol. In a very dangerous position, a player in Honduras fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 66th minute. Penalty!
