Paraguay's Jacobo Nores proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Paraguay from getting a goal against them. 20 minutes into the match, Karlsborg's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Aron Vikström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hector Covarrubias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Paraguay booed when Karlsborg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Hydén didn't get a good kick on the ball. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Primitivo Escribano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Hector Covarrubias struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Aron Vikström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Paraguay. 70 minutes into the match, Karlsborg's goal looked a bit too open when Jaime Pardo came free, but Aron Vikström reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Primitivo Escribano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 78 minutes, Hector Covarrubias took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Aron Vikström to make any attempt to save it. Jaime Pardo who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 82ndth minute tested the skills of Aron Vikström when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With his leg Aron Vikström managed to avoid a goal in the 86thth minute, when Paraguay's Jaime Pardo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When the final whistle sounded Paraguay left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Karlsborg.
