To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Čubrilo Romero kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Julio Vera. That made the score 2-0 in the 43 minute of play. After 48 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Andres Calamaro who took care of the corner kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Claudio-Paul Caniggia to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56thth minute of the game Claudio-Paul Caniggia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ecuador's Julio Vera was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 58 minutes, Luis Andino mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Psycho-Circus players grew even worse after the yellow card. Psycho-Circus were awarded a corner in the 94th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Enrique Najarro took the corner. The corner ended in Luis Zárate almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ecuador's Julio Vera did a great save. The Psycho-Circus players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
