Edmondo Antonangeli really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 19 minutes into the game, Algrange's Pascal Ohlmann nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Zorita made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Ricardo Zorita was out of position in the 23 minute of play, and Edmondo Antonangeli capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edmondo Antonangeli really showed his touch with that goal: 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moises Fernandino in the 26th minute of play forced Algrange's goalkeeper Fabien Barthez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The throw-in from Nikša Debeljuh in the 32nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by El Salvador's Luis Rubio. In the 35th minute, Edmondo Antonangeli made a precise shot to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-0. 40 minutes into the match, Moïse Quenet had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Moïse Quenet was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Moises Fernandinos short, quick shot in the 59thth minute got Fabien Barthez to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Algrange's Pascal Ohlmann got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. El Salvador's Ricardo Zorita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pascal Ohlmann in the 69th minute of play. Algrange's Johnny Camus was substituted for Pascal Ohlmann. In the 74th minute, Edmondo Antonangeli left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Algrange fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 7-0. When Algrange's Edmondo Antonangeli in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot.
