Dagoberto Neila fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidro Christobal having to interfere. Herminio Iratze received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Isidro Christobal tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the game, INDEPENDIENTE F.C.'s Herminio Iratze nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Isidro Christobal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dagoberto Neila in the 17th minute of play forced DEPORTIVO SJ's goalkeeper Isidro Christobal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcial Estavan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Josef Mohammad, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 36th minute, Filiberto Bermudez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 38 minutes into the match, Dagoberto Neila had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Isidro Christobal. DEPORTIVO SJ's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dagoberto Neila was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After the first half INDEPENDIENTE F.C. were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Filiberto Bermudez to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, DEPORTIVO SJ's goal looked a bit too open when Herminio Iratze came free, but Isidro Christobal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the DEPORTIVO SJ defense, Herminio Iratze kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Isidro Christobal. The DEPORTIVO SJ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Isidro Christobal should have stopped the shot. Ricardo Rius charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ricardo Rius the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 96th minute, Ricardo Rius hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over INDEPENDIENTE F.C. could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than DEPORTIVO SJ throughout the match.
