An unexpectedly hard shot by Ben Carlisle in the 38th minute of play forced Metal Juniors's goalkeeper Daniel Păvăloae to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reinaldo Castro hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Martín Palermo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Păvăloae made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teofilo Gutierrez-Pacheco in the 74th minute of play. After 75 played minutes Metal Juniors got a freekick which was hit by Haroldo Nayely. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teofilo Gutierrez-Pacheco in the 77th minute of play forced Metal Juniors's goalkeeper Daniel Păvăloae to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aguirre Verde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Dennis in the 84th minute of the match.
