Caio Boldrini started the match with the kick off. Caio Boldrini kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. In the 6th match minute, Degerfors IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Åke Fors to maneuver through the defense. In the 8th minute, Åke Fors got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 10 minutes into the game, Degerfors IF's Åke Fors nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Carlos Augusto Recife made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 14th minute Åke Fors shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Augusto Recife saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Åke Fors's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Carlos Augusto Recife read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Carlos Augusto Recife showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Åke Fors in the 21st minute of the match. If José Carlos Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Håkan Söderberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Carlos Simões in the 26th minute. José Carlos Simões received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Håkan Söderberg came out and tried to block the shot, but José Carlos Simões slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 26th minute. After 31 played minutes Degerfors IF got a freekick which was hit by 김 손. Fredrik Isak kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Degerfors IF's Håkan Söderberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Degerfors IF from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Palmeiras's Caio Boldrini got a free kick in the 38th minute. If Åke Fors had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Edgard Bastos took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Håkan Söderberg to make any attempt to save it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Degerfors IF's Tuncay Cansever was substituted for Åke Fors. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tuncay Cansever was the one to do the kick off. Håkan Söderberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Bastos in the 54th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elano Soares in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Håkan Söderberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 74 minutes into the match, Tuncay Cansever had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carlos Augusto Recife. Palmeiras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Tuncay Cansever was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Zé Simões hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgard Bastos in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Håkan Söderberg saved Degerfors IF from getting behind. Carlos Augusto Recife acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 84th minute, took the ball on the long shot from 김 손. Carlos Augusto Recife made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tuncay Cansever in the 90th minute. Fredrik Isak hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Håkan Söderberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgard Bastos in the 93rd minute of play. Tuncay Cansever sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 98 played minutes Degerfors IF got a freekick which was hit by Tuncay Cansever. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Degerfors IF had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
