Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ruben Smidts got the match started through his kick off. Alex Pihl came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by R.C. Marseille's Paulo Teinturier. But to his dismay, Paulo Teinturier quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After 14 played minutes SK Mons got a freekick which was hit by Nick Daniels. After some careless play in the SK Mons defense, Paulo Teinturier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alex Pihl. The SK Mons fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alex Pihl should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ruben Smidts got free with Gustave Lechat in the 20th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gustave Lechat made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Ruben Smidts sent off a good shot on target. R.C. Marseille's Bart Vetter got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Teinturier in the 31st minute of play forced SK Mons's goalkeeper Alex Pihl to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 31st minute, Paulo Teinturier ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alex Pihl was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-4. SK Mons's Alex Pihl played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florent Travers in the 41st minute of play. After the first half R.C. Marseille were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paulo Teinturier to make the kick off. Paulo Teinturier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ruben Smidts received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Gustave Lechat tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulo Teinturier succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-5 in the 61st playminute. Noël Casimir kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Cornel Ulici shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Lechat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, SK Mons's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Teinturier came free, but Alex Pihl reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, R.C. Marseille's goal looked a bit too open when Cornel Ulici came free, but Gustave Lechat reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 81 minutes, Cornel Ulici managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SK Mons's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cornel Ulici was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cornel Ulici fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gustave Lechat having to interfere. In the 87th match minute, SK Mons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ruben Smidts to maneuver through the defense. In the 91st minute Cornel Ulici shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gustave Lechat saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 96th minute, Leif Olofsson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SK Mons fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. R.C. Marseille's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
