Palmeiras's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Manuel Cozorici was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Jacinto Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Cozorici in the 34th minute of the match. Elano Soares's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vlad Voican read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 37th minute of play. Jacinto Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manuel Cozorici, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Florin Darabonț hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Jacinto Chaves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dan Stelaru in the 43rd minute. In the 44th minute of the match MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV got a corner. Palmeiras's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nicolae Panciu ran over to the corner to take the kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Manuel Cozorici was the one to do the kick off. When Dan Stelaru came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dan Stelaru couldn't finish the play. When Jonas Torres fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Palmeiras's protests and gave Jonas Torres a yellow card for diving instead. Dan Stelaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Bernt Jønsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manuel Cozorici struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Jacinto Chaves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for MCB Timisoara 1921 BTV. Jacinto Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manuel Cozorici, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 93rd play minutes Dan Stelaru shot 3-1, a short shot which went by Jacinto Chaves and just under the crossbar into goal. Manuel Cozorici fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacinto Chaves having to interfere. Palmeiras's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
