An unexpected shot in the 8th minute by Bernt Jønsson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Jacinto Chaves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermengildo Nesor in the 12th minute of play. Perivaldo Furlan hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. After 15 minutes Palmeiras's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Igor Fujara who took care of the corner kick. In the 17th minute Marc van Nistelrooij shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacinto Chaves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacinto Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marc van Nistelrooij in the 19th minute of the match. Hermengildo Nesor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Nesor in the 25th minute of play. The supporters of Winthont FC booed when Palmeiras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Perivaldo Furlan didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jacinto Chaves showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 31 minutes of play, Winthont FC's Hermengildo Nesor made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacinto Chaves was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jacinto Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hermengildo Nesor, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Nesor in the 34th minute of play. 35 minutes had been played when some careless play by Palmeiras's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Igor Fujara was slow to take the kick. During this time Winthont FC's players had a chance to rest. Winthont FC's Igor Fujara was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jacinto Chaves in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Palmeiras were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Winthont FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Bernt Jønsson took the corner. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernt Jønsson made a kick off. Palmeiras's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Palmeiras's Jacinto Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Nesor in the 54th minute of play. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palmeiras's goalkeeper Jacinto Chaves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 60 played minutes Hermengildo Nesor rounded Palmeiras's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-2. Winthont FC made a substitution. Sixto Gorbea replaced Hermengildo Nesor. Cristian Mello hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. When Winthont FC's Sixto Gorbea in the 71st minute got a chance for a shot 71st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Palmeiras's goalie prevented a goal. After 72nd play minutes Sixto Gorbea shot 0-3, a short shot which went by Jacinto Chaves and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palmeiras's goalkeeper Jacinto Chaves, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jacinto Chaves was a little too slow when Sixto Gorbea got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 79th minute. The score was now 0-4. Jacinto Chaves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sixto Gorbea in the 84th minute. After having played for 85 minutes, Sixto Gorbea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Winthont FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sixto Gorbea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jacinto Chaves made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sixto Gorbea in the 92nd minute. The Winthont FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
