In the 15th minute Lion Messi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dibag Martinez. Dibag Martinez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Dibag Martinez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, La Scaloneta's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Dibag Martinez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 39th minute of play forced La Scaloneta's goalkeeper Dibag Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 44th minute, Daniel Zorita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dibag Martinez was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 47th minute.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Zorita made a kick off. Dibag Martinez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 52nd minute. Daniel Zorita's late challenge caught a La Scaloneta's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Daniel Zorita helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of La Scaloneta booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Daniel Zorita didn't get a good kick on the ball. With his leg Dibag Martinez managed to avoid a goal in the 61stth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Dibag Martinez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 65th minute of play forced La Scaloneta's goalkeeper Dibag Martinez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Dibag Martinez made a huge save. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Martinez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, La Scaloneta's Dibag Martinez got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Lautaro Martinez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 81 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Julián Álvarez came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
