Claudio Normando didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Moises Fernandino went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximino Errapel in the 10th minute of the match. After 10 minutes, Abram Luque mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Salvador and the Saint Etienne FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Abram Luque kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Claudio Normando didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Moises Fernandino went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. 24 minutes into the game, Jesus Carvallo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. El Salvador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Saint Etienne FC the free kick. After 25 played minutes El Salvador got a freekick which was hit by Jesus Carvallo. Valentino Ferrant kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. 32 minutes into the match, Saint Etienne FC's goal looked a bit too open when Moises Fernandino came free, but Claudio Normando reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ricardo Zorita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vladimiro Oriche in the 33rd minute of the match. In the 43rd minute, Saint Etienne FC's Vladimiro Oriche dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Maximino Errapel stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Saint Etienne FC booed when El Salvador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Rubio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Maximino Errapel scored 3-2 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ricardo Zorita, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 62nd minute, Maximino Errapel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Saint Etienne FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. Claudio Normando made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Moises Fernandino sent off a good shot on target. Saint Etienne FC made a substitution. Inocencio Urko replaced Vladimiro Oriche. In the 74th minute, Valentino Ferrant hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 77 minutes into the match, Maximino Errapel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ricardo Zorita. El Salvador's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Maximino Errapel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. After some careless play in the El Salvador defense, Tolek Wojno kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ricardo Zorita. The El Salvador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ricardo Zorita should have stopped the shot. Moises Fernandino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Claudio Normando tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Moises Fernandino kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. Saint Etienne FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
