Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Kaviedes Arrese sent off a good shot on target. João Vítor de Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 6 minutes had been played when some careless play by Diablos FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. Kaviedes Arrese could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Julio Vera made a huge save. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaviedes Arrese, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cândido Júdice during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Cândido Júdice hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. João Vítor de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felix Montenegro in the 18th minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Antonio Arias hit a great ball. When Sydney Alcântara fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Diablos FC's protests and gave Sydney Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. After 23 played minutes Diablos FC got a freekick which was hit by Sydney Alcântara. Reimundo Casado struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Diablos FC. When Felix Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felix Montenegro couldn't finish the play. João Vítor de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute of play. João Vítor de Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 38th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Vítor de Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reimundo Casado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 48 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised João Vítor de Amorim. João Vítor de Amorim dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Asencio Cuffaro kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. The supporters of Diablos FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luis Andino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita managed to work through Diablos FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Daniel Zorita dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Diablos FC's Franklin Hostos was substituted for Moises Suane. Diablos FC's Omar Gochicoa was substituted for Cândido Júdice. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Asencio Cuffaro in the 68th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kaviedes Arrese in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. When the match clock showed 72 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Kaviedes Arrese sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. In the 76th minute, Kaviedes Arrese ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Julio Vera was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-1. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kaviedes Arrese's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kaviedes Arrese in the 82nd minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with João Vítor de Amorim in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Diablos FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Diego Riego hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 96th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaviedes Arrese in the 98th minute of play. The Diablos FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
