With a little luck, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Evelio Antoniano got control of the ball when Chucky Norris tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joel Catarinense in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evelio Antoniano saved Criciúma Esporte Clube from getting behind. The supporters of Criciúma Esporte Clube booed when Galo do Japi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Evelio Antoniano was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Julian Robira's late challenge caught a Galo do Japi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
