Maicon Barros in the 8thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. After 35 played minutes Criciúma Esporte Clube got a freekick which was hit by Fiz Onterino. Armando Iturburu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Trigo having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Fiz Onterino got a free kick in the 47th minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Maicon Barros to make the kick off. Fiz Onterino kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Willian Nogueira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Willian Nogueira in the 61st minute of play forced Criciúma Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Evelio Antoniano to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 95th minute, Criciúma Esporte Clube's Tercero Noya seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Tercero Noya the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Criciúma Esporte Clube protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tercero Noya had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Criciúma Esporte Clube:s Evelio Antoniano showed great skill when he stopped Vítor Mota:s penalty.
