Inter Gala's Naldo Félix played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fernando Lucas in the 13th minute of play. After 22 played minutes Inter Gala got a freekick which was hit by Reinaldo Dracena. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Inter Gala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Osvaldinho Baptista didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelo Gröhe didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Magno Matorin went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Hudson Toscano didn't get a good kick on the ball. 42 minutes into the match, Independente FC's goal looked a bit too open when Magno Matorin came free, but Marcelo Gröhe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Inter Gala's Flavinho Vasconcelos got a free kick in the 44th minute. Naldo Félix showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernando Lucas in the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.
In the 53rd minute of the match, Magno Matorin tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Marcelo Gröhe saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Nilson Duarte might have been able to make a better finish in the 57th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Naldo Félix. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nilson Duarte ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 62nd minute Flavinho Vasconcelos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcelo Gröhe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Naldo Félix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Lucas in the 63rd minute of play. The referee ignored Inter Gala's protests and gave Giovanni Linhares a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Inter Gala's Giovanni Linhares got a free kick in the 86th minute. Naldo Félix came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Independente FC's Raí Prestes. But to his dismay, Raí Prestes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fernando Lucas in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Naldo Félix saved Inter Gala from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Magno Matorin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcelo Gröhe was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Magno Matorin in the 95th minute of play forced Independente FC's goalkeeper Marcelo Gröhe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Inter Gala players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Independente FC.
