In the 16th minute Patricio Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gong Yong Nan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 17th minute, Matia Climent hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Tomas Illescas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. Richmond Van Glabeeke showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Richmond Van Glabeeke went, in the 25th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Gong Yong Nan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. In the 31st minute, Puerto de Sagunto CF's Francisco José Millán dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Richmond Van Glabeeke was the one to do the kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Francisco José Millán notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Puerto de Sagunto CF's zone, Patricio Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gong Yong Nan came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 59 played minutes Puerto de Sagunto CF got a freekick which was hit by Florentino Checa. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richmond Van Glabeeke in the 62nd minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco José Millán, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. 70 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Richmond Van Glabeeke came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tommy Galle made a great header on Puerto de Sagunto CF's corner, it was just that Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant managed to reach the ball for a save. Puerto de Sagunto CF's Gong Yong Nan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save Puerto de Sagunto CF from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Francisco José Millán kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. 86 minutes into the game, Patricio Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Puerto de Sagunto CF the free kick. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Richmond Van Glabeeke in the 89th minute of play. In the 90th match minute, Puerto de Sagunto CF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Florentino Checa to maneuver through the defense. Jonathan Ferrant didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Richmond Van Glabeeke went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 8-1 was the resulting score. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Puerto de Sagunto CF fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
